All Hail Louis Armstrong

Back in 1949, the Krewe of Zulu

elected their brand new king...

And to everyone celebrating Mardi Gras

this man would finally bring...

The kind of Mardi Gras revelry

no New Orleanian had ever seen...

Hail King Louis Armstrong

and his beautiful Mardi Gras queen...

They landed on a tugboat

at the foot of Canal...

Off the Mississippi River boat

drinking a Café Royale...

All of New Orleans was there

to give their king a cheer...

As their Mardi Gras king arrived safely

that morning on the pier...

Chorus:

All Hail Louis Armstrong

and his beautiful Mardi Gras Queen...

The kind of Mardi Gras revelry

no New Orleanian had ever seen...

The first order of business

was to greet his good friend Rex...

The Uptown ruler who was there

writing his big fancy checks...

After the Mardi Gras scrolls were read

and they finally all bid adieu...

The King decided to take his court

to visit the Audubon Zoo...

After saying hey to the monkey,

the elephant and the gator...

They said “Off to North Broad,

au revoir, see you later...”

As the Zulu King arrived

to meet his loyal subjects...

“Sorry to be late, my brothers,

I don’t mean no disrespects!”

Chorus:

All Hail Louis Armstrong

and his beautiful Mardi Gras Queen...

The kind of Mardi Gras revelry

no New Orleanian had ever seen...

So after a night of making toasts

and dancing to the swing...

Let the parade begin

so the people can meet their king...

New Orleans started to party

when King Satchmo hit the streets...

Everyone was joyous and happy

while dancing to the Purple Night beats...

All of New Orleans was screaming and yelling

“If we shake our Mardi Gras butts...

Will you please start throwing us

some of those Zulu coconuts...”

As the generous float riders

were more than happy to deliver...

That King Louis Armstrong

started singing ‘Moon River’...

Chorus:

All Hail Louis Armstrong

and his beautiful Mardi Gras Queen...

The kind of Mardi Gras revelry

no New Orleanian had ever seen...
