Questions I Ask



Will the sun always shine...

Even on a rainy day...

Will there always be sunshine...

So the kids come out to play...


Will the birds always sing...

So their music fills the air...

Will you always love me...

Will you always care...


Will the puppy dog tail...

Always wag with joy...

Will the cat always purr...

While playing with her toy...


Will I always love you...

Even if you break my heart...

Will our love always be there...

Even if we grow apart...


These are questions I ask...

When I’m alone on a walk...

These are the thoughts I ponder...

When there’s no one with whom to talk...


Will I ever feel totally complete...

Will I ever truly fall in love...

I can only know these answers...

When I trust His Word from above...

A City of Squalor

I once loved my beautiful New Orleans… The city that care forgot… But today it’s like a frickin trashcan… With politicians that simply care not… They no longer pick up the garbage… As no one seems to care… I try to get my new neighbors to help out… But no one wants to do their share… It’s seems like people are happy… Living like fat pigs in a dirty pen… The local residents keep telling their children… Move away and don’t return again… The restaurants and bars are all closing… The tourists are nowhere to been seen… The crime rates are shooting through the roof… The entire city is no longer clean… We have no one to blame but ourselves… For electing politicians who feed at the trough… When we beg them to listen to our worries… They smile and give us the blow off… When we elect the dregs of society… Politicians with no skin in the game… It’s too bad New Orleans is dying… A slow death for those who remain… © 2021 Jeffrey Pipes Guice
