Life Is Just A Journey



You came in completely naked…

And you’ll go out naked, as well…

You arrived here so very weak…

You’ll leave weak, as far as you can tell…


You came in without any money…

And you’re going to leave it all behind…

You arrived with no possessions…

And you will leave totally resigned…


It’s not about how you started…

Or about how you will end…

All that really matters…

Is have you been a good friend…


Have to been a good person…

To all that you have met…

Have you been a good neighbor…

Or someone they wish to soon forget…


Life is but a journey…

Things come and they go…

So have you given it your all…

You’re the only one who will truly know…


But you still have time

To make peace with your life…

To say you’re sorry to those you hurt…

And don’t forget your ex-wife…


We only have so much time…

And never know when the end is near…

Start fixing those broken relationships…

So when you leave, your conscience is clear…

I once loved my beautiful New Orleans… The city that care forgot… But today it’s like a frickin trashcan… With politicians that simply care not… They no longer pick up the garbage… As no one seems to care… I try to get my new neighbors to help out… But no one wants to do their share… It’s seems like people are happy… Living like fat pigs in a dirty pen… The local residents keep telling their children… Move away and don’t return again… The restaurants and bars are all closing… The tourists are nowhere to been seen… The crime rates are shooting through the roof… The entire city is no longer clean… We have no one to blame but ourselves… For electing politicians who feed at the trough… When we beg them to listen to our worries… They smile and give us the blow off… When we elect the dregs of society… Politicians with no skin in the game… It’s too bad New Orleans is dying… A slow death for those who remain… © 2021 Jeffrey Pipes Guice
